Founded in early 1969, Zaiko Langa Langa is celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a US/Canada tour that started early this year. KC African Events, and AfrikaYetu are pleased to present Zaiko Langa Langa in a live performance on Saturday March 23rd 2019 at JAMBO GRILL (9922 Holmes Rd, KCMO.64131) as their last show in the USA.
Zaiko Langa Langa are a seminal Contemporary Congolese band from DR Congo. Their music and creativity has influenced Congolese and African music like no any other band has done. Voted and crowned band of the century in Democratic Republic of Congo, they remain the most influential band ever in the history of African music. Currently led by N'Yoka Longo, Zaiko Langa Langa is a 20 piece band on tour in the US and Canada for the first time in 20years.
Their genre of music is Soukous which means "to shake". It is a popular genre of dance music from the Congo Basin derived from Congolese rumba in the 1960s, and gained popularity in the 1980s in France.
